Round Wiltshire with a Washing Machine

09 April 2009

Did you know every day Wiltshire produces more than two double-decker busloads of electrical 'waste' ?   A tiny proportion is re-used, most is being scrapped or put into landfill.  Yet there are some 26,000 ‘low income’ households in the area that struggle to afford necessary items of household equipment, such as a washing machine, fridge or cooker.

Refurbiz a Wiltshire charity which refurbishes white goods and provides them at low cost to those in need is organising a charity sponsored cycle ride "Round Wiltshire with a Washing Machine" from the 8th to the 25th of May 2009.

"We will be cycling around the Wiltshire Cycleway and stopping at events and markets along the way.  We are raising awareness and money for Refurbiz " say Liz Read .

The fortnight will be launched by Dr Keith Robinson Chief Executive of the Witlshire Council on the 8th of May outside County Hall.
