Take a trip on two wheels round the picturesque Braydon Forest this summer. Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is inviting everyone to visit its nature reserves by bicycle, and has produced a helpful information pack for those who wish to do so. Six of the reserves in the Braydon Forest will be linked by easy cycling routes (some parts off road). Visitors to the reserves can enjoy not only the wildlife but also the hospitality of local villages and the quiet (and flat!) lanes of North Wiltshire as they pedal along. "I want to encourage cycling as a more sustainable way of visiting Wiltshire Wildlife Trust Reserves", said the Trust's Paul Darby, Project Officer for the former royal hunting forest. The project celebrates its tenth birthday in July. Cyclists visiting the Forest will also now have somewhere to keep their bikes safely, thanks to new bike racks supplied by TravelWise at Wiltshire County Council. With signposting of awkward junctions on the routes well underway, Paul hopes to have the Curlew Trail up and running in time for the Millennium Festival of Cycling and the launch of the National Cycle Network in June. "We hope that visitors to our reserves will enjoy exploring this wonderful area, not only in June but at any time," said Paul.
