Sunday 4th May 2003
-
The Sarsen Trail will still be running on the following
date:
Sunday 4th May 2003
Avebury to Stonehenge
Sponsored Walk or Run
The Sarsen Trail Walk and
Neolithic Marathon, link the two World Heritage Sites of Avebury and
Stonehenge, and take in a part of Salisbury Plain which is usually closed to
the public.
Organised by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, the 26 mile route crosses
some of the finest downland countryside in Britain, and offers stunning views
across the Avon Valley.
Walkers can either undertake the full 26 miles, or walk to/from the midway
point - Redhorn Hill.
The Neolithic Marathon is a challenging cross country course, being
multi-terrain and undulating. An added attraction for 1999 was the inclusion of
a half marathon, from Wilsford Hill to Stonehenge, a 13-mile course of medium
severity.

The route takes in the second half of the full marathon and includes a section
across part of Salisbury Plain. These events are organised by dedicated
volunteers to raise money for nature conservation in Wiltshire.
Come and enjoy Wiltshire - and help to protect wildlife for future generations
