Just-Fascinating-BathJust Fascinating was born in June 2011 and started by Carrieanne Jenkinson. In the beginning, they sold ready to wear fascinators but they were constantly being contacted to make individual fascinators and hats so they decided to start the bespoke service, since then they have been swamped!

Carrie has a history in design and decided after some years to revisit this design passion and put it to good use. ‘I loved designing and creating fascinators and hats! I have so many wonderful ideas that sometimes I feel shear frustration at not being able to make them all but offering the bespoke service means that I am constantly designing and creating new pieces which is just marvellous.’

Six months on and they have a growing fan base, her recent design for Lady Gaga flew around the internet causing a huge interest in the small company which is taking the Millinery world by storm.

Offering a very reasonably priced bespoke service means that anyone can afford to have something designed and created to compliment their personal style and to match their outfit. ‘ We work closely with clients to make sure we get it just right, matching the colours perfectly and taking the time to discuss their personal needs, its wonderfully inspiring to make people happy and most of our clients have been truly thrilled with their fascinators and hats.’

I think 2012 is going to be a extremely exciting and busy year for Just Fascinating and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

New Small Business gets a re-tweet from Theo Paphitis

Custom-Crystals“Custom Crystals specialise in adding sparkle to baby shoes and girls trainers. We only use Swarovski Crystals and each crystal is added individually with love and care” Lindsay Ryan, a Swindon based full time working mother of two, has started up a new small business custom crystallising baby and children’s shoes along with custom orders for adult shoes.

One week after the start-up of the business she won a sought after Twitter re-tweet from Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis and her feet have not touched the ground since, she is now a member of the exclusive Small Business Sunday (SBS) group.

Custom-CrystalsThe #SBS event is run by Theo Paphitis every Sunday evening. Small businesses must tweet him between the hours of 17:00 and 19:30 and he then chooses 6 to RT that evening. Around 21:30 that evening Lindsay could not believe her eyes when she saw the re-tweet from Theo “@TheoPaphitis #SBS ok Theo pink & sparkly thoughts custom-crystals.co.uk girl and ladies trainers & baby shoes Swarovski crystals pink sparkly”

Lindsay said “To be chosen one week after setting up the business was an amazing feeling and rather overwhelming. Especially when some people have been trying for months. I have since found out that there were 1747 tweets to Theo for #SBS that evening which makes it even more special to be chosen for the award.”

Lindsay won the award in the penultimate week for invitation to the inaugural SBS winner’s event at Edgbaston on March 30th. Theo will be giving a short talk and then open up for a question and answer session to allow other winners to learn and gain information to help move forward their small business and to help spread the Dragon’s word for the SBS movement.

Wiltshire-Bikers

The Wiltshire Bikers will once again be arriving en masse at Shaftesbury Court in Trowbridge this Good Friday to let the residents see, hear and sit on a range of motorcycles. Having run this event last year with over 50 bikes in attendance, the Wiltshire Bikers have been invited back for a second year by the residents.

Shaftesbury Court is a purpose-built residential home for adults with physical disabilities and learning disabilities. It is important to stimulate and entertain the residents, and the sight and sound of such a big group of motorcycles arriving in their carpark was a huge excitement last year. The bikers will be treated to Hot Cross Buns, tea and coffee (donated by Wiltshire Bikers) while the residents get chance to look round the bikes, which will range from 125s to 1200cc machines, sportsbikes to cruisers.

After spending around an hour with the residents, the group will ride together to Chew Valley Lakes for lunch.

Wiltshire Bikers founder James Eades says: “We work hard throughout the year to fundraise for Wiltshire Bikers which allows us to put on events like this one – we can make sure Shaftesbury Court get a great show without having to dip into their own funds. Last year we had 50 bikes turn up and we’re expecting to easily beat that this year. Our members love to get involved with these types of events and we have a really great bunch of people in the group.”

Background information:

Wiltshire Bikers is a free motorcycle community based around its online forums at www.wiltshirebikers.co.uk. Founded by James Eades in January 2006, the site has over 1700 members from Wiltshire and surrounding areas. The group meets weekly at the Harp & Crown pub in Gastard, Wiltshire with over 100 bikes in attendance each week during the lighter evenings, and organises monthly rides which are often attended by 60+ bikes.

Wiltshire Bikers promotes safe and enjoyable riding, encouraging members to attend BikeSafe courses (run by Wiltshire Council), and to work for their IAM and RoSPA Advanced Riding awards.

The group is a non-profit organisation which raises money through fundraising events for local charities including the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, The Bike Experience (motorcycle trackday experiences for disabled riders) and a range of local care homes.
